UFC 303 Main Card Results: Pereira vs Procházka 2

Ian Machado Garry defeats Michael "Venom" Page by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

The main card opening bout between Michael “Venom” Page and Ian Machado Garry was a two-phase fight, with each man having the advantage in his preferred domain.

Machado Garry controlled the first round on the ground, chasing Page after catching a kick and taking his back, threatening a choke and throwing short punches the entire time. In the second round, Page kept the fight on the feet and pounded the undefeated Irishman, landing efficient and damaging blows. The third round featured a bit of both, with Machado Garry eventually taking the back and finishing the fight in a dominant position.

When the scores were totaled, it was Machado Garry who emerged victorious, taking his record to 15-0 in the process. This was a dangerous and challenging fight for the promising welterweight, and he managed to navigate it successfully and maintain his impeccable record.

Macy Chiasson defeats Mayra Bueno Silva by TKO (doctor stoppage) at 1:58 of Round 2

Macy Chiasson landed a hard-hitting elbow that immediately opened up Mayra Bueno Silva in the second round, ultimately ending the fight.

After a competitive first round between ranked bantamweights, Chiasson managed to get Bueno Silva's shoulders to the ground, where she landed a big elbow that opened up the recent title challenger. When the two eventually got back to their feet, the fight was stopped, the doctor was called and the match was eventually stopped due to the severity of the cut.

That makes two consecutive stoppage victories for The Ultimate Fighter winner, who continues to climb the rankings and show her development as a competitor. Chiasson is one of the few new names emerging in the 135-pound weight class, and it will be interesting to see what's next for her after collecting a stoppage over the recent title challenger.

Roman Dolidze defeats Anthony Smith by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Roman Dolidze made the most of his short-notice opportunity in a higher division midway through the UFC 303 main card, collecting a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Smith.

After a competitive and underperforming first round, Dolidze dominated the second, capitalizing on a stumble by Smith to pummel “Lionheart” for the remainder of the round. Smith began to recover in the third round, landing with his best punches of the fight in the last two minutes of the fight, but it was not enough to come back.

The judges were called to determine the victor and when the scores were totaled, it was Dolidze who came out on top, earning a sweep of the scorecards. With the victory, the Georgian breaks a streak of two losses and obtains his third victory in the UFC in the light heavyweight division, where he remains undefeated in his career.

Diego Lopes defeats Dan Ige by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Diego Lopes earned his fourth consecutive victory in the UFC, but it wasn't easy as Dan Ige gave him all he could handle with just a few hours' notice.

Lopes came out fast and aggressive as always, taking the fight to Ige, who agreed to replace Brian Ortega on Saturday afternoon. The two traded blows for the first two rounds, with Lopes getting the better of it, before Ige had his best moments in the third round as the Brazilian rising star began to taper off.

All three judges scored the same, awarding Lopes a unanimous decision victory with scores of 29-28 on all cards, raising his record to 4-1 inside the Octagon.

This was a brave performance by both men, who deserve the utmost respect. Despite countless issues, Lopes is still moving forward and should deserve another featured assignment next time after everything he's faced here.

Alex Pereira defeats Jiri Prochazka by KO (high kick) at 0:13 of Round 2

Alex Pereira is operating at another level than everyone else in the UFC right now.

On Saturday night, “Poatan” successfully defended his light heavyweight title with a left high kick just seconds into the second round that completely knocked out Jiri Prochazka. The follow-up shots were academic.

Pereira now has a 4-0 record at light heavyweight, with each of his last three wins coming in devastating fashion. He has eight wins and titles in two weight classes in a span of 32 months; what he is doing is unprecedented.
